New Mexico Horse Rescues
The one thing I
simply can not understand is why people do not seek help for their
Equine friends before they are to the point of starvation.
The 2 most recent ones came to me
in horrible condition because their person who was entrusted to take
care of them failed to. They are in horrible shape and so
skinny, you can count ribs, see their spine, and their hip bones.
The Gelding, his feet overgrown and very distrustful of humans.
Of Course, who could blame him. The mare, not in much better
shape but at least her feet were not overgrown making it
uncomfortable to walk.
Look at this
image of the gelding from the front. Notice how thin he is.

The mare from the front, you can see her hipbones
sticking out from her side.

If at any time, you cant care for your horses properly, I encourage
you to contact a Horse Rescue yourself and surrender your equine
friend. Because if you truly care for the horse, you will do
right by the horse. NEVER Think that if you give your horse
away to someone you trust that your beloved friend will be safe.
That is the case of my 2 most recent arrivals. The owner
trusted a family to take care of them and they obviously did not.
Now my job is to love them, make them healthy and get them to trust
people again so they can understand that not all humans are mean.
If you know of any horses or any other livestock that is not being
cared for properly, then please, just call the NM Livestock board
and notify them of the situation before it gets worse. They
take reports seriously and they will go to the location and
investigate.
I have only
listed those rescues here on this page that are certified by the New
Mexico Livestock board and who have successfully passed the New
Mexico Livestock Board Requirements.
